Homs city and province, 05-11-2013: A summary from Homs of the most important events in occupied Homs city and province for Tuesday November 5th, 2013 On the eighth day of the regimes largest military campaign in Homs to date in its 18 months of daily aerial and ground bombardment, Assads forces, supported by Iranian Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah mercenaries, as well as shabiha (pro-regime paramilitaries) launched ferocious attacks on a number of areas. The towns,villages and neighbourhoods of Homs city which came under regime attack included: Bab Hud - Hamidiyeh - Souq al Masqouf - Maheen - Aghannto - Bustan al Diwan - Souq al Khadra - Bab Turkmen - Qalat al Hosn - Jouret Shiyah - Al Qusour - Al Qarabis. Assads troops and their Lebanese and Iranian accomplices are stationed in a number of points, including the military academy, the loyalist neighbourhoods, the Qurmas checkpoint, the engineering battalion based outside Rastan. The humanitarian catastrophe in the besieged areas continues to worsen, with the suffering of civilians, particularly the most vulnerable groups - children, women and the elderly - growing more horrendous by the day. The tragic situation for the civilian population subjected to daily bombardment and starvation by regime forces and their accomplices Assads is beyond description across the region, but is even more severe in some areas, including Old Homs, Qalat al Hosn (a.k.a. Krak des Chevaliers), Houla, Rastan and Talbiseh which are without all essentials, including food, water, medicine, medical materials, fuel or any of the essentials of life. At least 22 homes there were completely destroyed in todays orgy of destruction. Meanwhile, an FSA hero from the town,named as Ahmed Khalif Daghafaq, was confirmed killed today while fighting for his nation faith and freedom against regime forces and their accomplices in Al Safira, Aleppo province. ========== Old Homs: The devastated neighbourhoods of Old Homs again came under ferocious bombardment by regime forces and their accomplices stationed at the regime military academy and Homs Castle. The catastrophic humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate, with chronic malnutrition and disease widespread due to the continuing 18-month regime siege. It was also confirmed today that a heroic medical worker from the Bab al Dreib neighbourhood of Old Homs, Mohammed Samir Elkha Abu Anas, an anaesthetist, was murdered on Monday October 28th in an ambush by regime troops while travelling to a field hospital in eastern Homs to treat the injured there (medical personnel have been specifically targeted by regime forces since the start of the revolution). ========== Maheen: Assads warplanes launched more air raids on the devastated town of Maheen, as well as subjecting it to brutal heavy artillery bombardment. Rebel fighters are continuing to heroically defend the civilians of Maheen from regime forces attempts to storm and ethnically cleanse the town despite the massive disparity between their meagre supplies of arms and the regimes massive military support from Russia and Iran, with two heroic fighters from the town, named as Mohammed Ahmed Ali Al Shehan and Saad Mohammad Rifai, were martyred there today while fighting to defend their nation,faith and freedom. ========== Jouret al Shiyah, Al Qusour, Al Qarabis: The three stricken neighbourhoods of Homs city again came under ferocious bombardment by Assads forces and their accomplices, with more homes and infrastructure destroyed in the relentless regime shelling.
