Honest driver earns praises November 5, 2014 By SHYRON I. ANDRADA KALIBO, Aklan — A tricycle driver here who returned a bag of cash and documents to its owner has earned praises from local officials and netizens. Reynaldo Gregorio, 44, of Sitio Baybay, Barangay New Buswang here returned the bag containing P147,000 cash and documents to Jose Galido, an engineering custodian in Garcia College of Technology. Gregorio found the bag on the roadside on Osmeña Avenue here in the afternoon of Oct. 30. Sangguniang Bayan Augusto Tolentino member, transportation committee chair, filed a resolution acknowledging Reynaldo Gregorio’s honesty and seeking recognition for the tricycle driver. Aklanon Facebook users also commended Gregorio. One user said other tricycle drivers should be honest like him, while another said other people should follow his example. Gregorio said he never thought about running away with the money even though they were poor and he was earning a meager amount as a tricycle driver. For him, it is enough that he and his family could eat three times a day. For his honesty, Garcia College of Technology offered to have Gregorio’s eldest child enrolled in the school as a working student or as a business administration scholar. Gregorio, who celebrated his birthday on Nov. 3, was thankful for the offer. He said her daughter stopped going to school due to financial problems.
