Hooks cruise past the Rangers, 14-2 The Rangers didnt stand a chance on Sunday, as Hooks captured a blowout 14-2 win in seven innings at Lively Park Field. Hooks scored five runs in the second on an RBI single by Kevin Mitchell, a two-run single by Brandon Cox, and a two-run single by Geoff Morgan. Birthday Boy Matt Bailey racked up three RBIs on three hits for Hooks. He singled in the third and fifth innings and doubled in the sixth inning. While some were getting older, others must have found the Fountain of Youth, as 41 year old Ethan Lopez recorded the win for Hooks. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out six, walked three and surrendered five hits. Chad Pennington was the games losing pitcher. He allowed 10 runs in 4 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out six. Hooks closer Dustin Thompson put away the final six outs to record the save. Hooks scored one run in the third inning, and then followed it up with one more in the fourth. In the third, Hooks scored on an RBI single by Bailey, scoring John Otterson. Hooks added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Mitchell kicked things off with a single, plating Bailey. That was followed up by Thompsons double, bringing home Bryan Chaves. Hooks built upon its lead with four runs in the sixth. Baileys double got things going, scoring Jonathan Toman and Otterson.
