Hopefully your weekend was bright and wonderful. If not, we - TopicsExpress

Hopefully your weekend was bright and wonderful. If not, we apologize. With the work week upon many of us, I thought I would post a few notes from our followers this week. Remember, please do not leave FB messenger posts with complaints of crime or against officers. It is not the appropriate venue. If you have E-coupons for coffee or a really good sauerkraut recipe, those would be accepted. I am kidding. I kid. I also cannot post embarrassing photos of your husband Mrs. Wiffeldo, it was funny, but the chief demands a little decorum here. With that said, here we go! I just want to write a personal note of gratitude for all of the work that you do on a daily basis. I have always had tremendous respect for PD/FD due to growing up in NY and having my best friends father be the Bayville Fire Chief and other family members of mine and hers be a part of Nassau County PD. When 9/11 happened, my already strong respect grew even greater. 12 years ago I moved to Bangor and I am proud to be friends with some of you!! How can you not love Paul Edwards and Cliff Worcester!! Anyway, I just wanted to say that I absolutely love your Facebook page. I am so very happy that you are using humor to reach out to so many of us and yet keeping us so very informed. It is such a great way to connect with people and keep it really genuine. My strong respect for PD/FD has always kept it real for me, but many people have a fear of PD/FD that may or may not be warranted. But, nevertheless, by you having the DOJ and using humor, it is reaching so many people - more than you probably know. So, cheers to you! Keep up the great work!! I do have one request though. I absolutely LOVE that you end your posts with We will be here. I noticed that it is not on each and every single post, perhaps a simple oversight. But I feel that those words speak volumes. Because no matter what, whether you have a humorous or serious post, you will be there for us. So, I kindly request that you always end your wonderful Facebook posts with We will be here. Thanks again for all that you do - both visible to the public and not visible to the public! I am especially a fan of anything that has to do with Special Olympics!! Sincerely, Andrea L AND THIS ONE: Aug 8th, 11:12am . Hey, I just wanted to give you guys a huuuge THANK YOU! I live on Fern Street, and the response to the gas main break was incredible. I thought it wouldve taken much longer. Everyone involved was amazing. Thank you all! J Bradgon. AND THIS: Aug 3rd, 1:21am . I placed a call tonight about being fired at, multiple times, by what I believe was an airsoft rifle while I was riding my bicycle home. As a daily bicycle commuter and a member of the Bicycle Coalition of Maine Community Spokes program, I take bike safety very seriously and hope to continue improving the relationship between cyclists and non-cyclists. Ive ridden in all kinds of weather, during rush hour traffic, with some extremely inhospitable an even reckless drivers. Tonight was the first time I felt truly unsafe. I called the non-emergency number to report the incident and within 10 minutes, I was speaking with a uniformed officer face to face. He and his associates allowed me to lead them to the location where the incident took place and I looked on from a distance as they investigated. I never cease to be amazed by what wonderful officers we have in Bangor. I deeply regret that I did not get the name of the officer who helped me. He was the very picture of professionalism. Thank you, BPD, for all that you do. No matter how big or small the incident might seem. Gratefully, James R Finally, we find out what Officer Larby has been up to lately. He has been living with fear and trepidation since being featured on the People magazine and Huffington Post websites about our FB page growth. He is still working, just not taking as many photos for me. As he worded it to me last week, TC, it is not the fame I fear, it is that it might change me. I mean....leisure suits are coming back and I want to know its real and not caused by me. Do you understand? Yes Keith, I sure do. Aug 8th, 10:35am . Officer Larby took excellent care of my dog last night. He had gotten loose and Officer Larby not only took him to the Bangor Humane Society, but also played with him before dropping him off. I picked Lucky up this morning, so he is home again safe and sound. Please pass on my appreciation to Officer Larby! We were so relieved last night to learn he was in good hands. Lynn H. Thats it from the third floor broom closet. We will be here!
