Horse Harvest Cleared to Resume U.S. District Judge Christina - TopicsExpress

Horse Harvest Cleared to Resume U.S. District Judge Christina Armijo threw out a lawsuit filed by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and other animal rights groups that claimed the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) failed to conduct proper environmental studies when it issued permits to plants to harvest horses. The ruling clears the way for horse slaughterhouses to resume operating as soon as next week. Congress restored money to fund inspections at horse slaughterhouses in 2011, but did not approve any permits until this summer. HSUS has announced they will appeal the ruling.
