How Does a Non-Profit NGO Fit Into the Governments Plans for Reclaiming All of the Chinese Devastated Lands in Ghana The government of Ghana in 2011 shut down all forms of mining outside of the major stake holders in the country of Ghana. The reason was that ever since the year of 2000, thousands of illegal Chinese had come into the country across the borders without visa’s or passports and started mining the rich gravels of the Ashanti Valley area in northern Ghana. They imported equipment from China that was manufactured by the government to be used as throw away equipment for it was not constructed of materials that would hold up under the rigors of mining. As time went on more and more illegals came in and the mining expanded to all parts of the Eastern and Western region of Ghana. Millions of acres of farm land were paid for so that they could get to the gravels below the fertile soil. They used excavators to mine which simply removed the top soil and piled it up and then they would move the top soil again to get it off of the area where it was sitting so they could mine the gravels under that spot. They did not practice reclamation of any kind on these lands and when they would finish one area they would move to another without doing any type of land smoothing or reclamation at all, this left a land scape that looks like nothing ever seen in Ghana before. They filled rivers with tailings from their operations the silt from these operations made the rivers flow yellow with the dissolved clay that was in the gravels and when water is applied to it the clays become suspended in the water and if the water is flowing then the clay muddies the water for miles downstream. This will kill fish and is not suitable for using the water as drinking water without first being filtered and there are no villages in Ghana that have those kinds of filtration systems in place. Today the devastation of the land is a grim reminder to all that they were here. The government of Ghana has enacted rules and a few laws so that these lands can be reclaimed and made usable and fruitful again. They have given these powers to only a few organizations here in Ghana that has the foresight and the plans to enact a massive reclamation project that will encompass more than 30,000 illegal concessions. One of these organizations is the Mother Lode Reclamation of Africa NGO that has been newly formed but has the plan, the personnel, the technologies and the knowledge of how to go about such a massive undertaking. The government is making all of the confiscated equipment taken from the Chinese available to the NGO so that it will be able to mobilize a large force of such equipment to put the plan into action. How Does an NGO of this Nature Function NGO stands for Non-Government Organization, there for it is a private corporation and is formed as such. In this type of entity there are no stock holders or shareholders and there is no ownership outside of the founders of the NGO who are called the Ordinary Members of the NGO. There are rules and regulations that dictate how this type of organization can be ran. There is an Executive Council which in the case of this NGO is the Ordinary Members and the number of the Executive Council is limited to three. It is these two bodies that make up the rules and regulations for the NGO. In order to understand what the purpose of this NGO is one must look to its Constitution which tells its Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives. Let’s take a look at each one of these individually. What is the Vision of the Mother Lode Reclamation of Africa To Bring as many as possible of the 30,000 plus Illegal Mining Concessions up to Legal Standards through Land Reclamation over the next 10 years. What is the Mission of the Mother Lode Reclamation of Africa To Reclaim illegal and improperly mined land to its natural state with enhancements of orchards planted on the reclaimed land that will give the villagers around these lands a source of food and a source of income producing crops that will yield everything from Croton Megacarplus nuts that will produce oil for use in diesel engines, to Mangos, Pineapple, Coconuts, Popo and Jatropha plants. Once these are planted on the newly reclaimed land they will grow for up to 100 years and produce a source of income for the people of these lands long after the mining is forgotten. What Are the Goals of the Mother Lode Reclamation of Africa 1. Restore the land through best practices mining and reclamation. 2. Share the wealth of the land with the villagers who live in the villages affected by mining. 3. Recover ALL OF THE NOBLE METALS LEFT IN THE TAILINGS by bringing experienced mining professionals to operate the reclamation & new mining technologies and best practices of mining. 4. Obtain assistance from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to provide funds from their humanitarian and Third World Country Programs to the NGO. 5. Plant sustainable income producing orchards on the reclaimed land that will restore the beauty of the jungle and will produce food for the villages and will be there for years to come. 6. Hire and train as many local miners as possible in the Best Practice of Mining and Reclamation so that this type of devastation never occurs again in Ghana. How will the Member of the NGO benefit from their participation The NGO is structured so that it may obtain the maximum amount of funding for its efforts as it can from the 100% it has to work with of its membership base. Each $1.00 (One US Dollar) will be worth .0000001. Ex. An excavator is valued at $50,000.00. It is given to the NGO in exchange for a membership and a percentage that is equal to 0.005%; this will return the owner of the membership approximately $0.28 for each dollar contributed per month. We have already selected the first reclamation site where we will start, it has been chosen not only for its ease of access and its closeness to Accra so that the media can get there to film our progress but it will be easy for the other government officials to drive their very expensive autos to us without damaging them. This site when it was being mined was producing between 80 to 90 pounds of gold every day from 30 of the small 4 ft. was plants that the Chinese used. This is equivalent to over 1000 ounces per day and a value of the gold (At $1,300.00 Per Ounce) of $1,400,000 per day. We expect this ground to still contain at least 1 gram of gold in each cubic yard of tailings and if that is the case then our equipment will produce approximately $3,500,000 per month with a Net Recovery of gold in the range of $2,800,000. As time goes on and more sites are added to the roster where we are working, then the income from that same membership will increase logarithmically. These payments will not be in a currency but will be in the form of raw gold straight from the recovery facility to the Member. The current plan of the NGO is to open one new reclamation site every two months starting after the 4th month. This will give us 5 sites each doing an average of 400 cubic yards of gravel every hour. That means in an eight hour day we will process 3,200 cubic yards of gravel which will have a value of approximately $22,400 per day per site and that times 5 means we will be producing around $112,000 per day, so a monthly total of revenue will be times 26 days a month so the income will be $2,912,000 per month. Our costs will be in the neighborhood of 20% so our net will be $2,329,600. If you have $100,000 donated to the NGO then you would receive .00000002 X $100,000 equals .002%. Now if the net revenue is $2,400,000 per month then you would receive $2,400,000 X .002 or $4800 per month. We expect to do much better than the above figures but it will give you an idea of how much raw gold you could receive from your donation each month.
