How cold is too cold for your dog outside? I suggest you put your boots and coat on, bundle up... then stand outside with them! Its COLD!! I am outside with my pack at all times. In this cold weather and artic temps they do still need to go outside to potty and play. Please limit their exposure to these temps. Be sensible and for Heavens sake DO NOT CHAIN your dog up out there! Stand out there with a chain in your hand, without a glove... you will see it sticks and freezes very quickly to your hand the same way it does to their coat, and paws! It is not rocket science to figure out water in a metal bowl that is not heated.... Freezes! They are Domesticated animals accustomed to OUR comfort of living... to throw them outside unattended for fresh Artic Air makes my head spin, if you enjoy it so please stand out there with them. Take them for a walk, run them yes, but keep them moving, not idle on a chain. Also please when walking be careful of the salt on the sidewalks as it burn their paws. We wash our dogs paws off with warm water before bringing them in as so this is not bothersome for them. Finally, my first rescue, Jonah was purchased as a puppy from a breeder. His people kept Jonah in a scrap metal pole barn his entire three years of life. That is all he knew until we brought him home. They said it was heated... it was a living freezer....a hell hole they said was sufficient because after all, he was just a Dog. This does not sit right with me and should not sit right with any of us as a society!
