How do you define a successful basketball season? Is it all/mostly - TopicsExpress

How do you define a successful basketball season? Is it all/mostly about wins and losses? Does it all depend on how far you make it in the tournament? What if you go 30-0, but lose in the first round? How about if you are a bubble team and barely make the tourney, then lose the first round? How about if your win loss record it poor, but your team makes substantial improvements over the course of the season to prepare you for next yr? Do you get a pass for injuries? Coaching changes? At first glance it would seem that KUs season was a disappointment. At least 3 pros (probably lottery picks)... won the Big 12 for the 10th straight yr.. etc.. But then lost the first weekend to a Stanford team that (sorry but this is how I feel) shouldnt have been within 20 pts of KU, with or with out JoJo. Then you have the Carolina squad. Couldnt get a handle on them all yr.. lost their best player before the season even started...beat the preseason top 4 teams, and lose to UAB and Belmont... Had a 5 point lead going into the last 2 minutes and folded like a cheap tent... Went from talk of missing the tourney to contending for as high as a 4 seed.... Both out the same day. Who had the better season? Which was a success, which was a failure...?
