How do you think positive messages could impact a person’s Self-picture, outlook and behavior? Whatever the words, and whatever form they take, nearly everything we say to ourselves and others sends a message that reinforces destructive, negative or positive behavior. Talking to yourself as a friend, giving yourself a break, encouraging yourself, keeping things in perspective, assuming the best, forgiving, receiving support, being confident, and reassuring a positive outcome, these reminders will have a great impact on one’s self-picture, outlook and behavior. In order to promote success, in our daily lives, we must be competent, capable and in control of our own lives. When we tune to our Self-talk, we give ourselves the power to choose which messages we want to listen to, and which we want to change. Becoming aware of the choices that we make surely supports our choices effectively and affectively. We must stop before we act (talk). We must refocus, reassure & reconstruct our negative feelings into positive reactions from the time we wake up until the time we lay down. What we meditate on usually is what we become. When we focus on using positive language at the start of the day, it is a constant reminder that we are worthy, more than adequate, secure and capable in completing the tasks that are set before us, without doubt, anger, strife or fear. The more we recognize this view of ourselves of being successful, as the truth of who we are, the more we make supportive, empowering choices in our lives. When we meditate on speaking positive, consistently, our Self-talk promotes Self-esteem, forgiveness, and self-acceptance instead of shame. All of these techniques are a priority in my life on a daily basis, which has impacted my life greatly, as a mother, grandmother, pastor, motivational speaker, student and friend. Amen...
