***How is this even possible?!*** How is this even possible My heart is so confused Wasnt it only yesterday When it was me who tied their shoes? I was the one they looked for When it was time to tuck them in I was the one they searched for After a sporty, hard fought win But as the tide moves and sways With the fullness of the moon So does their hearts desires And this change often comes too soon I mean, it seems like only yesterday That I taught them about their wings? One day, my loves, you will fly And conquer everything. I would tell them this day and night As they hung onto my every word Id preach, Id pray and make them laugh While telling them things Id heard But now, alas, they know it all And I am just a means To get some food, some money & gas Like Modern Family & Middle scenes. I realize this is normal And in fact, my parents saw the same From a blonde-haired, blue-eyed know-it-all Who actually shares my name And looking back, I realize This is how its meant to be I guess itd be kinda weird now If the one tying their shoe was me Maybe wed get some judging looks If I still carried them on my back Or wiped their tails & picked their nose Yeh, thatd kinda lack some tact And as much as I miss those good ole days I wouldnt trade these in at all Because the fun, the laughter and tears we shed Really mean we are having a ball Life is one big lesson, I think Only thing is; it goes by way too fast My heart just needs to catch up a bit With my ever expanding a&$..... ((No, no, no, thats not how this poem should end.)) My mama would say, youve gone too far I can hear her plain as day So I guess the things we teach them young Really DO have the power to stay ;-) So, Ill end my poem a bit sweeter With something that rhymes with way too fast How bout, my heart just needs to catch up to my head And make every sweet moment last. ;-) ((Yes. Thats better, right, Mama?)) ha! Happy new school year everybody! Lets do this thing! ....and always find the humor!
