How many PCVs does it take to demonstrate the Knock Down, Spray, Catch theory? Peace Corps/Senegal and SLAP hosted an Entomology Training at the Thiès Training Center 19-20 April 2014 for eight volunteers interested in Malaria prevention projects. Third-year PCV with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Rita Weiss coordinated the training which covered the role of medical entomology in malaria intervention and prevention, and basic anatomy and life cycle of mosquitoes. Volunteers sprayed and collected mosquitoes for research purposes during a demonstration of the Knock Down, Spray, Catch theory. SLAPs Moussa Diagne and Ngayo Sy facilitated with Cheikh Lo from LEVP in Dakar and the CDCs Dr. Ellen Dotson. All photos by Rita Weiss
