How to Pray with Integrity “When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!” — Job 42:10 NLT If ever there was an excuse to wring someone’s neck, Job had it. With friends like Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar; Job didnt need any enemies. These self righteous characters criticized and condemned Job when they shouldve been comforting their hurting friend. If this was a fictional movie plot you would expect Job to take revenge, or rub God’s approval of his life in their face. After all, revenge is a dish best served cold. Rather we see the opposite. Job prays for his insincere friends. Jobs prayer was reflective of his integrity. Here are two ways that we can pray with integrity: Pray with Gods purpose in mind Job understood that God was in charge and that ultimately His purposes would prevail. He knew that God would not approve of a bitter spirit, so Job responded with prayer. Pray with humility The fact that Job prayed for his friends reveals his humility. All prayer should be wrapped in humble motives and petitions. This represents a teachable spirit. God blessed Jobs prayers of integrity and He desires to do the same for you. Let us all have a heart that has this understanding: May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you. -- Psalm 25:21 May God Bless you as you walk in the confidence of His counsel today.
