How valuable is my life after accident and being confined to wheelchair? Yesterday, 22/1/2014. I went to see Anethetic doctor for my operation in February at Selayang Hospital. After waiting for almost 2 and half hours, eventually met the doctor, a friendly and sweet young lady doctor and she explained the procedures and sent me for blood test and chest X Ray. Reached X Ray department at 12.05 noon and waited for about 15 minutes, my number 3063 being called and I entered Room 3, and as usual, change my clothes and get ready, and the technicians, 2 ladies asked me to stand up for the chest X Ray, I politely told them that I am not able to stand or walk as I am a spinal cord injured. Then they walked away, here come a gentleman again and asked the same question and I replied again, but he did not seem to understand spinal injury and I have to tell him in Bahasa Malaysia, that I am Lumpuh dan tak boleh berdiri. Then he started to tell me that the X Ray plate is very expansive (Sangat Mahal), I just nodded my head and waited for directive from him, he continued saying that if the plate fell, will cost more than ten thousand puluh ribu and I told him I have taken numerous time of chest X Ray and there never been any accident before, just placed the plate in between my back and the back rest of my wheelchair. He continued muttering and told me the plate is very expansive and will cost like buying a Honda car. I was confused why he has to talk so much as he only need to take the X Ray and do his job, that is it! After few minutes, he started to place and I tried to accommodate his instruction, but he became rough when he told me to lean sandar and I tried but not to his expectation, and he started to push me and pulled out the plate, his pushing action caused unbalance and I almost fell off my wheelchair, luckily the other 2 ladies nearby quickly hold me and I screamed because I was so shock! I told him even though I am paralyzed and used wheelchair, but my life is still very valuable (Walau pun saya duduk wheelchair, nyawa I lagi sangat mahal). I felt very depressed and annoyed with the technician, why he has to say and act like this? Did he think that our life after accident and being confined to wheelchair is value less ......... Why he has this type of mentality? I felt sorry for him for not respecting others, and I believe if he can do this to me, he will do it to the others ( poor OKU and the senior citizens). If opportunity comes, and I meet him someday, somewhere, I wish to inform him to respect every life, not the materialistic value like Honda car! Respect beget respect!
