Hsing I Chuan, is a form of fighting art belonging to traditional Chinese Wushu also known as the school of “mind and body boxing” the school initially is based on animal body movements known as the internal style, although not connected to Xiang xiang Wushu but some of its animal movements and forms are very similar with the said. Wushu or art of war has over 500 plus different styles in its formation when it was practiced by Taoist monks and influenced by Buddhist Yijing and Shaolin si priests’. In 1928 the Chinese authorities did try to find a ground for the unification of the existing styles and re introduce them as Chinese National Sport, the new name for Wushu was adapted as “Guoshu” – Wushu is initially divided into two groups internal and external or Neijia or Weijia – in general understanding there is no real unification and a lot of other issues such as medicine, health and philosophy is involved and in some cases overrides the Martial Arts aspect of it. Nevertheless Wushu is very popular all over the world with staunch following and practitioners.
