I, OLATUNJI KEHINDE AYOOLA, of Ward 4, Oyo East LG, Oyo State, - TopicsExpress

I, OLATUNJI KEHINDE AYOOLA, of Ward 4, Oyo East LG, Oyo State, hereby with all sense of responsibility call on my following friends to resign immediately, as Caretaker Chairmen of their Councils: * Prnce Ayodeji Abass Aleshinloye - Oluyole LG * Professor Joe Olowofela - Ido LG * Hon Wasiu Olatubosun - Ibadan NorthWest * Mr Richard Soji Ojoawo - Oyo West LG * Prince Akeem Adeyemi - Atiba LG * Alh Muthair Adekunle - Oyo East LG The simple reason is because they have been unconstitutionally occupying those offices. Second reason is that I have known them over the years as democrats who either agitated for or participated in democratic processes. Ayodeji Abass, Ive known since the 80s during our times as students of OAU, Ile Ife. He was a strong pillar of anti-Abacha protests that brought democracy in 99. Olowofela was a studious, persevering and tenacious member of the AD since 98. Wasiu Olatubosun was the lone voice that shouted AC throughout Oyo state for years before the usurpers came. My aburo, Akeem had been elected before into the same post by the people. Soji won his first election as councillor in 1997 under the Olusola Saraki-powered CNC. That year I was a chairmanship candidate. Muthair is a suave, forward-looking and level-headed young man. Why they are comfortable occupying a post which people ought to elect them into baffles me. The LG election in Oyo State has run into a labyrinth of legal conundrum, due mostly to the stupidity of some people who believe they should not leave their posts as OSIEC Board members as if they brought it from heaven. When these people resign, let others follow suit and thereby create a constitunal lacuna which only an election can fill. I was a member of Oyo State House of Assembly which enacted the LG Law for our state in 1999. We mooted the idea of a caretaker govt to run for not more than 3 months for elections to be held. In Oyo, 3 months has become 3 years now and there is no transparence in LG funding management. It is all over the place that there is egregious sleaze going on in our LGs. There are no bodies of councillors to check them. Many people, who normally have no business with LGs are now meddling with matters in LGs. Chairmen cannot stop it because they are powerful loci of power to whom they have become beholden. May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
