I am a 30 year old Professional Golfers Association of South Africa member. What does that mean? Well it means Ive played golf for as long as I can remember. Ive played with wooden woods and Hogan blades (if youre an old hand youll know what this means ;) I played hard, got down to a +5 handicap at my home club of Southbroom Golf Club where Derek James is the resident PGA Professional. I can recollect making a birdie (and sometimes eagle) on all of the holes.... Just not in the same round :( Ive dabbled on tour, and have found some success, but have not been able to fully chase the dream due to money restrictions or injury (hopefully not laziness) I still have the ability to put a round together, but am unable to do it consecutively because my second round is usually played after watching 15 hours worth of 24 handicappers having a crack at the game (please take no offence high handicappers....we are here to help!!) I have studied for 3 years and taken exams to ensure that I know what the hell Im talking about, and that I dont cause you any INJURY when Im teaching you how to swing a golf club! Ive worked as an apprentice and I know what it feels like to open a golf shop in the darkness of a July morning (colder than I like to be), and close the doors well after the sun has gone down, and didnt even get to hit a single ball... :( I digress. We are handy golfers, but we are very human - with scores reading 72, 65, 85, 85! We can put a round together, and show you how to do stuff with a golf ball that you have seen the SUPERSTARS do, and really TEACH you about this amazing game that has given so much to so many. But we can also spiral out of control, and please understand that when we are playing a bit sh*t, its probably because we are stressing more about our rental payment than the putt for bogie on the 12th hole! HaHa! Again, I digress. All we want to do is pass our knowledge on. Give us a try. Were pretty cool people to talk to, and have some EPIC stories to tell... It has been an incredible ride so far - I write this from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where I teach the game of golf at an indoor facility City Golf Kuala Lumpur. Which is about to receive a massive facelift. Thomas Aiken, George Coetzee, Ernie Els, I hope you get a chance to drop in when youre next over this side. How to express your thanks for being involved with such a great game that has given you so much? Facebook might not be the best place to do it, but you hope that at least a few people will read this and appreciate where Im coming from. Shattered I couldnt make it to the World Club Pro Am South Africa Andy Bean. I will do my very best to rustle up a couple of teams for next year. Congratulations for putting on a stellar event. More photos please!! Gary Player, youll be pleased to know that we are installing one of our simulators within the walls of a health club here in KL. Luckily people are starting to figure out that exercise and the game of golf go pretty well together. You have been an inspiration. NgiyaBonga Kakhulu!! Ernie, I look forward to playing your track in Langkawi. Great work! Cheers. - Rick -
