I am a believer of free market economy and the sovereignty of Ghana. EPA is restrictive towards achieving the fore. Ghanas major exports are primary commodities that service the manufacturing industries of the EU and elsewhere. The trend in EU now is a drift towards the services industry away from manufacturing. Much of the manufacturing industries have been taken over by Asian and Eastern European Companies. By implication to this assertion, our exports are gradually becoming irrelevant to the EU. What are we going to gain from EPA aside from dumping of goods into our Economy to kill our infant industries trying to undertake manufacturing of import substitutes. When we sign we are doomed, we cannot come out of it unscathed. There is nothing like free lunch in Europe. Lets remind ourselves of the numerous judgement debt saga and learn from them. We have been talking about the falling value of the cedi. Have we paused to reflect that the EPA is a recipe for balance of trade deficit that fuels such trends? Ghana cannot compete with EU in the services industry so what are the likely gains that proponents of EPA are advocating. I duff my hat to the Yao Grahams. Keep doing the good work. We support you fully. Heckling is accepted in any democratic dispensation so fear not. The British PM is heckled in parliament every Wednesday during PMQ time. There is nothing wrong with giving the EU representative a dose of it. To say the least Tweeah.
