I am compelled to remark on the vicious attack that was made against myself but also my son. Even in national politics where it gets as dirty as it can, still upholds the unwritten rule that you dont attack candidates children but my opponent and his supporters have chose to do so, Recently the representative of the 5th district for the Republican Party-Al Fonzi, who is also the president of the Lincoln Club and the ABA are major contributors to my opponents campaign fund. This was to discredit me as being a challenger to my opponent and their power team. My opponent will say he had nothing to do with it but the facts speak for themselves. The Lincoln Club has already donated $1500 toward my opponents campaign fund and Im sure there will be more. The ABA has also supported him in the past. Is this small clique able to control the City of Atascadero with their underhanded tactics? And as in past elections the Fonzis have donated heavily to my opponents campaign, the ABA will start their radio campaign shortly and I expect the attacks to continue. These dirty actions have been going on for years in Atascadero just to ensure that this small group maintains their power status. Im here to give the voters of Atascadero the opportunity to retrieve their city from this power team and install elected officials who care about the city more than themselves. If I didnt love this city more than myself I wouldnt have made all the sacrifices and knowingly walked into the fire knowing beforehand I was going to get burned, I just didnt want it to burn my kids. Recently in the interview session at the Tribune for the candidates my opponent stated that he walks on water except for at election time. I still dont believe I heard him say that, but that is the opinion he has about himself. Maybe when we get some water in the lake Tom can show us all how to walk on water. My opponent is all about himself rather than the citizens of Atascadero. I was warned about this political machine that is behind my opponent but had no idea it would be as bad as they warned me. By the acts of my opponent and his machine I will be furiously contesting his lack of competency to run this city. Failure after failure from this administration has broken our city and the overrun on the del rio roundabouts proves it, the carlton proves it, all the empty businesses prove it. The law suit with FEMA proves it, the skeleton crew at city hall proves it, the failure to get trader joes here proves it. And on and on.. We use to have a nice venue at the lake, but now its the Portola Inn; biggest violator of a condition use permit Ive ever seen. So in closing I ask the citizens of Atascadero to elect me as their next Mayor and lets bring back decency and creditability to our great city and lets focus on the future.
