I am not surprised. A slight variation to this, happened with me, in the US. Read on...... Why do some Indians behave this way? Today with all of you I am sharing! An incident that occurred with me, so appalling! Was from New York city returning! With my little son and my mother accompanying! Got into a train that was not overly crowded! But there were no vacant seats available for us to be seated! A 45 minute train ride through seven stations! Before we could reach our destination! In the compartment that we chose to enter! There were 4 Indians along with other old people and a mother! The seated group of 4 Indians! Comprised of 2 ladies and 2 men! Since it had been a long day for him! My son insisted that I carry him! As the train chugged from station to station! At a very high speed, we were totally shaken! My mother and I barely managed to keep our balance! While the two Indian men completely feigned ignorance! After about 3 stations an old white lady got on her feet! And to me and my mother offered her seat! Then she went straight to the 2 seated Indian men! And began giving them, on common courtesy a lesson! She told them that they should feel ashamed of themselves! For not vacating the seats which they had claimed for themselves! By this time she was being supported by the enitre compartment! But these guys remained undeterred to my embarrassment! Believe me, while speaking to them, no one minced any words! In giving them a piece of their mind, no stone was left unturned! Now these guys along with the women began to argue! They came up with some very silly excuses or two! It seems they had had a very long day! And that they were tired at the end of the day! The daintily dressed lady claimed her feet were aching! She was immediately told to stand up after her heels removing! In spite of all this being told to them! They behaved in a manner worse than a scum! With the lady who initiated this, I started talking! To her, my feeling of disgust expressing! This irked the Indian guy and he began me accusing! I told him to shut up and keep his nose from poking! Seated they remained until their destination! Which was one stop before my station! As they were getting ready to get out of the train! The old white lady told them a few more words without any refrain! She told them that when they have their own kid someday! Or if they have an elderly accompanying them on a crowded train like today! She hoped that the people around would have at least an ounce of courtesy! Behaved more kindly towards them and exercised decency! But the most shameful part of the entire incident! Was that all this had on the 4 Indians, no effect! For very firmly they stood their ground!
