I am posting in community groups to raise awareness about The Folkestone Studio School opening September 2015. Please Like our page to keep informed on our progress. We need community response and support to open The Folkestone Studio School focusing on education and training for careers in the Creative Industries which employ over 1 million people in the South East of England and are growing fast with a rising demand for jobs. We are looking for parents interested in Key Elements of the School: • For 14-19 year olds with year 10 and 12 entries • Emphasis on developing essential employability and life skills • Active team based projects • Weekly work experience and real industry experience • The School is state funded, non selective and a small School of 300 students maximum • Students start up and run social enterprise businesses • Learning through externally commissioned projects • Working with local and London creative businesses • Every student has a personal coach and student mentor • Progression to employment, university, business start up or apprenticeships • Pathways in: 1. Design, Photography, Communication and Web 2: Film, Television and Media. All students study Computer Technology, Enterprise and Business. We are all about re-engaging young people aged 14-19 with team-based projects, which are set by a range of external partners. Our students study core GCSEs alongside Creative Practice, Technology, Enterprise and Business qualifications to give them relevant skills and experience to thrive on the fast paced creative industries. Employers are asking for young people to build communication, team working, business, innovation and motivation skills alongside creativity - this is a major focus of our curriculum.
