I am reading the Boston Globe at the co-op, not something I do often. (I had to fight back tears, maybe this is why.) Anyway, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is going into court today. He is charged with 30 federal crimes, 17 of them carry the death penalty. One family member of a victim, who previously opposed the death penalty said "Under the circumstances, an eye for an eye feels appropriate." This is when I felt to cry. It is just too sad and ironic to me. To continue in this cycle and belief of an eye for an eye cycle is to remain enslaved by fear. While I do not expect anything more from this case, it just breaks my heart that this is what feels like redemption to people.
