I am receiving lots of messages from staff at the hospital who want us to be aware of all the areas of the Hospital we are losing....... Hi Julian, I keep reading posts about fighting for maternity, paeds but everybody should be aware that all acute care will be gone eventually. I dont have proof (yet) but moving away paeds, all surgery, except day surgery, critical care will eventually lead to down grading of A&E to the equivalent of Cannock minor injuries unit and acute medicine to Stoke - already Stroke, Cardiac and trauma go there - non-invasive ventilation is no longer delivered in Ward 12 so gradually it will all be gone. I heard that the part of pharmacy where they prepare chemo is being closed at Stafford - does this mean people wont be able to get chemo at Stafford - haematology is moving to Stoke - what will be left at Stafford will be a Cannock - Minor injuries, day surgery, elderly care, intermediate care beds, investigations and out patients! So depressing. They say they cant recruit - no they cant recruit staff at Stafford who know they will be moved to Stoke - people dont want to work there! Sorry rant over - we are having to be positive to try and motivate staff to continue their good work while services are at Stafford but it is getting harder
