AS EVIL AS JUDAS ISCARIOT I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me. John 13:18 This night 2000 years ago was a time of agony and the beginning of heart break for Christ. His disciples couldn’t pray with Him even for an hour for the grace to survive the hour of darkness. One of the reasons of His early heartbreak was that one of the people that ate with Him and follows Him wherever He goes has lifted his heel against Him. When we are punished by a known enemy, the pain is not much but whenever we are betrayed by a close and trusted fellow, it causes heart break. Judas Iscariot for the sake of 30 pieces of silver betrayed our Lord Jesus; he betrayed his apostleship and trust with Christ just for immediate gain. Jesus was flogged, made to carry a heavy cross for a very long distance, laughed at, nailed, jested at, crowned with thorns, made to hang on a nail which was nailed on His wrist and legs, thirsty of water, hungered, pierced through with a sword, He was made naked and His garment was parted and lot was cast on it, all these He suffered because He was betrayed by His close friend, His disciple, His student, someone that had eaten and partaken in His blessings; Judas Iscariot. What Judas Iscariot did is very evil but most of us are very guilty of the same offence. Most of us that had partaken and are still partaking in the blessings and fellowship with the Lord have also risen up our heels against God. When we because of money or pleasure deny our faith and love for Him, we also join in the train of Judas the betrayer. For the pain Christ suffered for the betrayal of Judas Iscariot, He also suffer same for every betrayal from the hand of any of His children who chooses money and pleasure over his/her faith. How many times have you betrayed God? How many more times do you want to betray Him? When you know what is evil and you purposely do it because of the pleasure and money you’ll get in doing so and plan to repent after enjoying the benefit of such evil, you are as evil as Judas Iscariot.
