I am relieved to know that enlightenment cant be purchased in a bottle or a book, at a workshop or a refuge, on a yoga mat or a meditation cushion. I am relieved to know that it cant be found by witnessing the pain body or submerging in it. It isnt waiting in the heart of positive thinking, or on the outskirts of the world, far above the fray. I am also relieved to know that those who claim they have landed on its illusory shores are, by definition, deluded, for the more we awaken, the more we recognize how many doors have yet to open. Its a great relief to know that we are all in this together, figuring it out one soul step at a time, holding hands and hearts on this zany earth ship. Its a relief to know Im not alone in my efforts to make a little sense of the mystery. We may not understand it, but we do at least have each other. That comforts me.
