I am sitting in the lobby of Hotel Kabuki, thanks to my gorgeous friend Kellye Kimmel-Fondren. Weve seen Susan Sanelli Hammack, and Amy Siu, and met crazies, and ate and ate,and talked and talked, and sorted out what ails us. now I am waiting to be picked up by Toi Lynn Wyle, to head to Reno, for a luscious weekend, and I am reminded of my own words...and beliefs. A change in scenery brings much perspective, and with perspective, I am able to see how I need to bring back the passion into my life, to build more of it into my lifes infrastructure. You’ve got to Travel. I don’t just mean to exotic places. I don’t even necessarily mean even out of your town. True travel is simply a change in scenery and context, and that is all. It can be a big adventure, or it could just be that you try a new grocery store, or take a new route home from work. Travel is so good for the soul, even when it hurts, even when it disappoints. Because it highlights. It shows you. It gives you this massive perspective. And usually, hopefully, it leaves you in awe. As I set out to ride to snowy Lake Tahoe, leaving California, musing on a week in Indiana to come, missing Oklahoma - which is still such a new, and surprising thing to say - I hope that you too find perspective and passion you need in your life soon. Im working on mine!
