I am so excited to try this new planting technique next spring.... But Ill bet I forget about it.... I cant leave the note on my forhead for an entire year.... so.. listen to this amazing idea.... You take a bale of hay next february... you let it sit for two weeks.. hosing it down every few days.... Then.. very early in the spring.. you plant your veggie starts in it.. (do not add any soil.... as the hay has done enough composting in the 2 weeks to support roots with nutrients) ...put plastic over it if it freezes... (the hay composting will warm up the roots) I saw pictures.... the farmers were raving about it because of no weeds.. not having to build a raised bed.... no special soil.. etc.. I am going to try a few only.... Is that not cool....
