I am so sick of this. We just stand idly by and allow things like this to happen. We need to be working for change in the House of Delegates, the Virginia State Senate, the US House of Representatives, and the US Senate. Yet we do not vote. We do not encourage others to register. We do not do what we can to volunteer for campaigns, supporting Progressive causes and in general speaking out. We just let the below happen. It is so rediculous. See below letter. Its not just a matter of money. Where is your voice: Dear Eddie, Yesterday, in what has been called the Medicaid Charade the House of Delegates came back into session. Democratic Delegates showed plainly that in the healthcare arena, Virginia Republicans have made the commonwealth an outlier. House Republicans simply didnt present a plan. They called a special session on medicaid, not to present a plan. But they did do something. They followed in the footsteps of John Boehner. They voted to allow Speaker Howell to hire outside counsel to represent House Republicans whenever they disagree with the Attorney General or the Governor. Specifically they mentioned marriage equality, medicaid expansion, workers rights, or - and I kid you not - any instance where it is necessary to defend the responsibilities, authority, and prerogatives of the House of Delegates. (AKA, anything that the Governor or Attorney General ever does that Bill Howell doesnt agree with.) The is the exact same strategy that John Boehner has used. When the legal system says youre wrong, pay someone to say youre right! (Note, and pay them with taxpayer dollars too, because legal bills can be expensive!) Were taking steps to run an aggressive campaign in 2015 so that we can have a seat at the table and help prevent such foolishness from continuing to flow out of the House of Delegates, but we need your help.
