I am usually up early before a race, this morning is no exception! I didnt sleep too well! Not because of all the seismic activity, but because I had a 16 month old fall asleep on my left arm last night! lol I woke up at about 12:45, could only feel the tingling of my arm, and had a rough time moving it, and Isabella! lol Allow me to backtrack a bit... Last night was A Snails Pace kickoff party! Fantastic as usual!! Got word about 3/4 of the way through that there was an earthquake in La Habra. I guess we were enjoying ourselves, because No one felt it!! And we were in Brea! I left the party just after 8:30, went to Sprouts for bananas for this morning, drove literally over the epicenter, and got home to Pico Rivera just after the second one hit. (Again, I didnt feel it) I was downstairs in the garage oblivious to anything when Maggie called to tell me that the earthquake had scared her. I love earthquakes! I dont know why, I always just see them as free Disneyland rides. I know this is probably naive of me, but that is all Ive ever known! So, I tried my best to calm my loving wife... Usually I try with humor and a smile... I failed! She was really startled! So, the 3 of us just laid in bed, cuddled and held hands. Im pretty sure I was the first to fall asleep! So, back to this morning! Im up!! And I figure I have a lot to do before we leave. Im currently icing the knees, just for good measure. Going to take a quick shower to get the nose flowing. Ill do a sinus rinse before getting out the door! Have the stroller ready! My thoughts on this race... First and foremost. HAVE FUN! It will be my first race pushing a stroller, which makes it Isabellas first 5k! This is also my first 5k in over a year, so between the combination of running with my daughter and being back, I will probably get emotional at some point!! A lot has happened since that last race. Knee surgery, sinus surgery, and a somewhat lengthy and at times trying recovery from both! Im one of those, that at some point before every race I get butterflies. It used to be because I questioned whether I belonged in this sport. Let me assure you that with the friends I have made over the past year and a half, I have no doubts I BELONG!!! But, Im still nervous! I think that is only natural and will never change for me! Good luck to everyone! And Thank you everyone who has been supportive and an inspiration! Some of you know who you are... Some of you dont! YET!!! : )
