I am white...I do not understand...honestly, I dont even now how to process the unfolding revelation of the deep racial divide in this country. The reality is terrifying...and even the smallest bit that I am able to comprehend makes me physically ache. I am culpable...I have been, to some degree, shutting it out as I quietly endure my own difficulties that have kept me less than aware of what is happening outside of my little sphere. Valid excuse or not, the truth is that Im barely capable of navigating the complexities of my own, modest life...and that makes me selfish as I do my best to hang on. I dont feel strong enough to take on the world...a world that is ailing, as surely as I am. I do not know how to fix it...but I do know that something is terribly broken. The remedy, I suspect, will only come through the concerted, mass effort and attention of every single one of us.
