I attended the gala premiere of Singapore-produced Malay movie “Banting”. It’s a wonderful movie - it’s pacy, the script is witty and the characterisations are very good - and I think the movie shows that we are capable of producing good movies that all Singaporeans can enjoy. MDA and MCI will continue to support such efforts because we think it’s important to continue to give our local talent a boost. If they can produce a good script, compelling production and good direction, we will certainly welcome them as this will help in the overall aim of developing Singapore into a film hub. Kudos to the director, cast and crew of “Banting” for a job well-done!
