I awoke this morning missing something that was a part of our Christmases as far back as I can remember, of which we no longer receive. The big Christmas Catalogs. I remember how i would do to them what I now do at dept. stores. I would walk through each section but linger much longer in the toy section. It was an exciting time. The pages would soon become dog eared as pages were marked and turned down as i dreamed of having so many of the things, that in reality, were impossible. Then after Christmas my sister and I could cut them up and make paper dolls and before we knew it, we had complete wardrobes for them to wear, along with furniture for them to have for their make believe homes. Needless to say, after i grew up, married and had children, I got to experience the same excitement, but in a different way. The looks on the childrens faces as I would announce what came in the mail today. They would carry the Christmas catalog around and change every other day what they wanted for Christmas. Lists were made and remade up until the last minute, when that letter would have to go off to Santa. I must say, I miss the big catalogs. I guess I am pondering a lot of things on this Wednesday, three weeks before Christmas.
