I belong to several groups on Facebook, and as I post notes on these various groups, I pause in wonder, what are they truly about? When you know, that you know, that you know, what you teach came from the Lord, and not one person bothered to read it, what’s the point of the group ? As you look upon the content of what is posted in those groups, and it’s topical Christianity at best, and that’s what draws the attention, where’s the hunger for God’s truth. Things like; “praise God He did it”, or “God will always make a way” but what about our responsibility as a Christian, where is the hunger and thirst for God and His way? Did we or are we selling our birthright, in order to feed our flesh? Gen 25:23 And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger. Gen 25:24 And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb. Gen 25:25 And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau. Gen 25:26 And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esaus heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them. Gen 25:27 And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents. Gen 25:28 And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob. Gen 25:29 And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint: Gen 25:30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom. Gen 25:31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright. Gen 25:32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? Gen 25:33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. Gen 25:34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright. Christianity is not a topical measure, like an ointment over a scratch, Christianity is a full and complete lifestyle, but few will find that out. Why few, because people aren’t willing to pay a price that requires us to stand by letting someone else have the reigns of our heart and our minds. Man sings the same old song as the actor singer who sings, “I did it my way”, selling off their birthright for a few moments of pleasure that feed the flesh. Christianity is as God said in His Word, an all-out effort, giving Him our all in heart, mind, soul, and strength! Mat 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Those who hunger after the Lord and His way, who stay the course and deny the flesh, they will be blessed. Luk 6:21 Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. Seeking the Lord God and His way is a full time, fully responsible job, and it cannot be mixed with the ways of this world, not even in the least. Your search for all of God and His way requires all of you and all of your time, otherwise it’s just a topical effort. That topical effort won’t get you into an everlasting peace-filled life with the Father. Mat 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Mat 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Luk 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. Let’s just take a look at some of these words and see if God leaves us any wiggle room! STRAIT, a. [See Straight.] 1. Narrow; close; not broad. Strait is the gate, and narrow is the way that leadeth to life, and few there be that find it. Mat 7. 2. Close; intimate; as a strait degree of favor. 3. Strict; rigorous. 4. Difficult; distressful. 5. Straight; not crooked. 6. Distress; difficulty; distressing necessity; formerly written streight. NARROW 1. Of little breadth; not wide or broad; having little distance from side to side; as a narrow board; a narrow street; a narrow sea; a narrow hem or border 2. Of little extent; very limited; as a narrow space or compass. 3. Covetous; not liberal or bountiful; as a narrow heart. 4. Contracted; of confined views or sentiments; very limited. . 5. Near; within a small distance. 6. Close; near; accurate; scrutinizing; as a narrow search; narrow inspection. 7. Near; barely sufficient to avoid evil; as a narrow escape. FEW, a. [L. pauci. The senses of few and small are often united.] Not many; small in number. STRIVE, v.i. pret. strove; pp. striven. [G. This word coincides in elements with drive, and the primary sense is nearly the same. See Rival.] 1. To make efforts; to use exertions; to endeavor with earnestness; to labor hard; applicable to exertions of body or mind. A workman strives to perform his task before another; a student strives to excel his fellows in improvement. 2. To contend; to contest; to struggle in opposition to another; to be in contention or dispute; followed by against or with before the person or thing opposed; as, strive against temptation; strive for the truth. 3. To oppose by contrariety of qualities. 4. To vie; to be comparable to; to emulate; to contend in excellence. Sounds like no wiggle room, and God being Whom He is, and is unwilling to lie to us, if we don’t get right in a hurry, we may find ourselves spending eternity, in a not so desirable place. We could have it worse than that remember; Rom 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. After having tasted of the love of God, I know that nothing else is comparable to it, so why do I want to sell my birthright or give away my inheritance, for a few morsels of pleasuring my flesh. If the love I feel from Father God is that powerful and that fulfilling, why would I ever want a topical relationship with Him. Isn’t it time we got real and stayed real with God, repent of our ways, especially the half-hearted efforts and dig deep, searching for everything we can gain from God in spiritual prosperity and hunger? Get real, be real, and stay real with God, He does know your every thought and every intent of your heart, Give God back the throne in your heart, Amen! Let’s get hungry for God and the things of God, so we don’t lose out, Amen!
