I celebrate each and every weirdo/freak/creature I know or meet, you literally give me life! But this week Ive had several experiences and exchanges with the most illusive and often overlooked creatures of them all: straight-girls! You were my first allies when bullied in school, even when you didnt need to consider an outsiders perspective. You can overlook differences and endeavour to consider other perspectives than that of your own and Im humbled by this. In discussions and random conversations this week Ive met normal people who have taken a moment to consider, what must be to them, a very strange life and occupation with positivity and without judgement. There is so much fear and ignorance everywhere, but after this week Im more confident than ever that acceptance is growing and people are looking beyond the things that separate us, to see what in this world makes us one. And so, Ive invited lots of straight girls to UltraViolet this Wednesday, to see the little magic space we (the others) make and live in each week. And I extend that invite to everyone! Dont worry about dressing weird, making a scene or being the best. Come as you are and enjoy being you with others being themselves. And as its Halloween, Im going to dress up as my hero of the month: a Straight Girl! Now I just need to find some Uggs in a size 12! #yaystraightgirls
