I copied this from one of my Animal Rescue Groups and had her permission to copy it. This is why I am for adopting and not shopping :) Wonderful story ♥ Kelley Sims Mulina Some of yall may remember the shar pei that we adopted from Cleburne Animal Shelter a few months ago....she has only been a member of our family for a short while but 3 days ago she saved my life!!! I was brutally attacked in a field by a 50 plus lb. dog. The dog had me on the ground with my arm in its mouth, shaking it to death. I screamed and screamed for help, I got my cell phone out of my pocket to call 911 but the dog slammed me on the ground and broke it in half! I was completely helpless when like an angel, my shar pei somehow slid under my other arm and grabbed that dog by the throat making her let go of me. As I tried to get away the dog was so determined to get me that even with my dog attatched to her throat she still managed to bite me on the stomach! My shar pei held the dog on the ground until I could safely get away. I was taken by ambulance to the er and had multiple puncture wounds and lacerations that required stitches, lots of pain meds and some high powered antibiotics. I havent got to see my precious shar pei, Red Rock, yet because she is in quarantine....but when she gets home she will get a hero celebration!! If she hadnt done what she did, I could be dead today....... When my husband went to pick out a dog at the shelter, SHE CHOSE HIM! The shelter staff even said that she never jumped up and wagged her tail when people walked by, she just acted dead....until my husband walked up to her cage! She knew we would need her one day! So, for all of you that are leary of adopting a dog from a shelter, I am living proof that a shelter dog was the best thing that ever happened to me and my family!
