I cried unto the Lord tonight, I cried so I could see What of my precious country Lord What will truly make it free Will a vote for yes fulfil the plan Or should we vote for No What will be really best for us Lord I wish that I could know There’s history in this nation Lord History as friends and foes When times were good and blessing flowed And there were many times with woes. We gave our youth to many wars They died in foreign lands The cost of freedom they did pay Their blood upon, whose hands? The promise was for a better day That their children could enjoy A promised freedom at a price For every girl and boy. Now did it come and did we see A shadow of that dream Or is the plight of freedom A light that has gone dim. O Lord you know my heart tonight The promise and the dreams A new day dawns whatever comes Is the story as it seems? Without you Lord there is no light Without you there’s no vision True freedom surely comes from you. So YOUR freedom, our ambition The freedom souls are longing for Will not be found at polling stations But by your grace and by our faith Lord, you can change our nation. O Lord our land do not forsake Of YOUR cross afresh remind us A vote for yes or a vote for no May our worse times be behind us Once again, your blessings Lord Descend upon our land We want to see the nation blessed Let us hear it, as your command
