Board Update Board Members Volume 30, No. 32 David Ambrose, President Aaron Close, Vice President Board Meeting John Rowland June 3, 2014 Laura Smith Patricia Springer Regular Meeting The Morgan County Board of Education met in a regular session on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. at the Board of Education Offices located at 247 Harrison Avenue, Berkeley Springs, WV. David Ambrose, President presided. John Rowland, Laura Smith and Patricia Springer, and Aaron Close, Members, and David Banks, Superintendent were present. Present were: Administrators – Joan Willard, Assistant Superintendent; Nancy White, Treasurer; and Ann Bell, Payroll Supervisor. Media – Kate Evans, Morgan Messenger. I. Call to Order President Ambrose called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. II. Pledge of Allegiance President Ambrose led those present in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. III. Roll Call All Board of Education members were present. IV. Approval of Agenda and Addenda The board approved the Agenda and Addenda. V. Reports/Communications A. President of the Board NOTE: President Ambrose informed the Board that there will be a training on August 28th regarding Policy 2940, which has to do with sharing administrative services among counties. RESA will conduct the training, which will be held in Romney. B. Board of Education Members C. Superintendent NOTE: Mr. Banks stated the last day for students is Friday, June 6th. The last day for 200 day staff is June 10th. The end-of-year program will be held on June 9th at 10:00 a.m. at Berkeley Springs High School. NOTE: Mr. Banks commented that this is the final year for Energy Express unless another funding source is obtained. NOTE: Mr. Banks informed the Board that Administrator Academics for teachers and principals (Common Core/Next Gen) are scheduled for August 5th and 6th. RESA will provide the training. VI. Public Comments: None VII. Consent Agenda (Action) The superintendent recommends approval of the following consent actions as presented: A. Minutes of the May 20, 2014 Regular Meeting B. Payment of Bills C. Volunteers (Paw Paw Schools and Pleasant View Elementary School) D. Budget Adjustments (if necessary) The board approved Agenda Item VII.A-D-Consent Agenda. VIII. Executive Session A motion was made by Mr. Rowland, seconded by Mrs. Smith, and unanimously passed by those present to enter into executive session pursuant to West Virginia Code 6-9A-4(2)(B) to discuss personnel matters. The Board entered into executive session at 7:16 p.m. President Ambrose reconvened the meeting to open session at 7:56 p.m. No action was taken. IX.
