I do re-enactment with my family and though my daughter has chosen to do Japanese medieval re-enactment we have found some fascinating corollaries as she pursued traditional Japanese arrow making. Here are a few pictures of her finished arrows and her working on the arrow heads. These are war arrows so I would not use this style of head for hunting. The nocks are hand carved antler. The shafts are bamboo with flame hardened joints. Fletchings are made of turkey from birds she killed and processed. Cotton thread was used for binding nock, fletchings, and head instead of silk as she couldnt raise her own silkworms. The stain is natural walnut she made from Japanese walnut trees grown locally.
