I dont hate The Hobbit movies, but I dont think the audience is all that invested in them. The Lord of the Rings films had us hating that we had to wait a full year between each one. It reminds me of the Star Wars prequels vs. the originals. The originals still mean a lot to a lot of people. The prequels are better forgotten. I do think that in a way, Lord of the Rings filled the hole that the Star Wars prequels left a lot of us nerds with. Where the old guard came up short, a new one stepped in. Now, the new is old once again, and slightly out of touch with what people want and why. Maybe thats just the way of things. Maybe too much success diminishes the artists hunger, and too many fans and yes men make him/her lose touch with what is or isnt good. I dont know. I cant wait to see where the next pop culture nerd explosion comes from. I hope very much to be involved with one someday, and am working hard to make it so. Thatd be amazing.
