I dont quite understand how people refer to the selfie as a new concept altogether. It just didnt have a name before. Infact some phones even had a small convex mirror attached below the cameras to assist in taking self-shot pictures. The trend, however, has caught on dramatically, so much that people are no longer shy of the obtrusive stretch of the arm of the selfie-taker and proudly sport it as an evidence of the #selfie.
