I dont recall what year, but t I was between 6 and 14 :) , so maybe 1960-1970. Anyway, my mama was a flower lover. In addition to that, she had at least 2 green thumbs and possibly some green fingers. Everywhere she went, if she saw a plant she liked or one she didnt have, she would try and get a cutting or seeds or even a small plant. Our yard contained lots of flower beds and she would plant zinnias and marigolds along the sidewalk to the front door. In the east side of our yard, she had a good sized rose bush. Funny thing, I dont recall the color - could have been pink or red - but it was a source of happiness for her. One year, she had gotten from somewhere, a bunch of plastic roses, yellow and pink and she proceeded to wrap them onto the branches of that rose bush. So it looked as if the bush were blooming in multiple colors. One afternoon, a car stopped on the side of the road next to our yard. A lady got out and came to the house. She had been driving past and could no longer contain her curiosity. She asked mama what kind of rose bush that was!? Shed never seen one bloom in more than one color. I think it tickled mama to take her out and show her that it was only partially real blooms - the rest were those plastic flowers.
