I embark on a gruelling, weeklong 3 country trip starting tonight. By the time I come back, quite a few votes have already been caste. Last six months or so, I have been posting various links, photos and comments which expressed my lack of support for Narendra Modi. It is not that I am not aware of the reality that in the face of a Congress which has outlasted its reason for existence and a mishmash of regional parties, BJP may be the only viable alternative for a stable Government. I consider AAP to be a great change agent and I do not expect them to be a political entity which would settle in a government and become like the rest. Thus both practically and otherwise, I dont see AAP forming a government. I just hope that if BJP comes to power, NaMo will prove me wrong and will not become an authoritarian, majoritarian and pro-rich and upper middle class potentate. Every time this country has seen some good governance, it had to pay a heavy price in the long run. In Indira Gandhi, it was total subversion of democracy. In Pawar, it was mega corruption. I hope NaMo will prove me wrong. And if he does so, I will vote for him in the next election. I did not get my voter id done this year.
