I feel as though the book Fahrenheit 451 isnt too far off from reality, minus the burning books. However, I will say we have become a technology-dependent society. It has made us more dumb and unaware of our surroundings. It has inhibited our ability to create and express individual truths and our ability to learn. We are becoming sieves, unable to retain information. Soon, we will be filled with insignificant information; a conformed mind. Maybe there is a sense of freedom with empty minds but it is also a very boring, metallic world.
