I get ideas while I’m working sometimes and jot them down on a little notepad next to my keyboard. It seems the least disruptive method. Just a word or two meant to remind me of an idea. Minimal interruption to whatever I’m writing. I use voice memos most of the time, but this is what has worked for me at my desk. Until recently. I’ve apparently passed over some threshold where memory is a fleeting, darting, vanishing thing. Like a hummingbird. Or a dream you remember when you wake up... Aaannd there it goes. The mystery of the day; a note that says “Accident-the plastic top”. At some point in the heat and desperation of the writing day, that must have seemed a brilliant idea, which is why I’ve decided to stop smoking crack while I write.
