I guess 9/11 will always bring on the memories of the shock, fear and sadness. But I also force myself to remember all of the heroes that emerged that day. To remember that I felt a deep bond with every stranger who made eye contact with me that day. To remember that we all came together as Americans regardless of our skin color, our political affiliation or our religion. We were one in our passion and our resolve to make good prevail. I remember taking Danette Batenhorst to a memorial service just a few days after and holding hands with a complete stranger. I so wish we could grab on to that love for each other and never let go off it again.
