I had a bit of an off-putting experience with art in school even - TopicsExpress

I had a bit of an off-putting experience with art in school even though I enjoyed it and had a bit of natural talent. I hated my art teachers and thought the process of schooling someone the same way as is done in math or history, having them regurgitate facts and forcing them to think this or that, was just pure lunacy and frankly insulting. I quit after less than a semester both times. Art is supposed to be about freedom: lucid dreaming onto your medium... You just cant get real freedom in any form in some communist training camp like a US public school. It was the same with band after a certain point as they were trying to shuffle us off to marching band like regimented cattle to cheer on some ridiculous, simulated-combat sport like football (which was when/why I quit), but I digress.... Im trying to get back into the arts in general (more creative writing and art-art more than music), and I found this guys YouTube channel. I could totally see watching his videos TNP style in the background. His vids are really good, although they run long, and so he seems to sort of be a sort of artist version of Nutnfancy, although I may be a little off-base there. Either way this is a good channel to check out:
