I have a bunch of experience and formal training flying commercial aircraft in the United States. However, I have never had formal training flying aircraft in remote and technically challenging situations I will encounter in Guatemala. I am out in Idaho recieving a one month formal training course from Mission Aviation Fellowship. They are teaching me how to safely and precisely operate a mission aircraft in back country operations. Last week was the classroom portion where I learned things like advanced aerodynamics, safe takeoff and landing procedures, emergency procedures, search and rescue, air dropping supplies, flying in mountainous terrain, and much more. Today I started the flight portion. Ill try to get some photos up later this week.
