I have a pot full of pewter. I dont particularly want to use that - TopicsExpress

I have a pot full of pewter. I dont particularly want to use that pot anymore. Theoretically, can I heat up the pewter (in that pot) and then pour it into silicone baking molds to make ingots? (for ease of transport and reuse) I was thinking silicone mostly because it would be the easiest to get the pewter to release from once it has cooled off. The melting point of pewter is 443 F, most of the silicone molds seem to suggest they are good until 500 F. I dont particularly care if I ruin the mold, but I dont want molten metal breaking through and pouring all over my workspace. Has anyone tried this? Is there another material that would be better suited? Thank you for your help!
