I have been an admin of the Pointers group on Facebook for close to four years. In spite of me being politically active and strongly opinionated, I have been careful enough not to make any political posts (unless it involved achievements of pointers in any way - like, pointers contesting in Lok Sabha/Bidhan Sabha elections or being nominated to the Upper House (Rajyasabha) of the Indian Parliament) or share any political content in the group. But yesterday, an external political content has been shared in the Pointers group through the majority consent of the admin panel and approval of the ASPEXS leadership. When a large number of pointers (many of whom are my friends) protested or made critical comments in that post they have been censored, removed or banned from the group. I have not been a part of this decision and neither was I consulted in this process. I also do not endorse/agree with the decisions of the admin panel in this regard. Moreover, I do not entirely agree with the methods in which this incident has been handled. But as the group has been always run in a democratic and collaborative manner by the admins I did not go against any of those decisions/steps. Instead, I have quit as an admin yesterday. I wish good luck to the admin panel.
