I have been following the Pelican lake debate down in Southern Minnesota. Apparently oxygen levels in the shallow fishery are depleted to a level that most the fish in the system will not make it through the winter. The DNR plans a draw down in the near future turning this back into duck habitat. In the meantime anglers are allowed to take as many fish out of the lake as humanly possible. Guys are literally dip netting loads of fish. My question isnt about allowing the liberal harvest of fish that are going to die, but how will possession limits be enforced in the state of Minnesota after this no limit allowance?? Seems lots if freezers might be stuffed with Pike and Crappies.
