I have been greatly humbled by an experience I had a few weeks ago but have been unable to find the words to describe the interaction or express how much it meant to me. However, I am going to try, as I feel it is a story that needs shared. To say that I am speechless is an understatement. A few weeks ago a conversation left me dumbfounded and literally frozen where I stood, but in the most generous, heartwarming, amazingly, incredible way. I was choking on tears literally unable to find the words to speak. Fortunately I was able to connect with the person that initiated the conversation; last week I met with Mary. Mary has a special, familial connection to AAAM. That connection is a beautiful young woman named Alyssa. Alyssa is a niece of Briana, (who became known to everyone around here as Aunt B all those years ago), and Mary is Alyssas maternal grandmother. Briana and Alyssa were very close for many reasons so needless to say losing B has been extraordinarily difficult on Alyssa. Nothing is going to ease the pain or fill the void that has been left by the powerful and bold presence that B was, but Alyssas Grandmother, Mary, decided to do something grand to not only help her granddaughter with the healing process but to help her feel connected to the foundation established in Bs memory as well. I was able to meet with Mary and we had a wonderful, tear-filled meeting exchanging stories about Briana, Bs mother (who also is dancing in heaven with Briana and Addison) and Alyssa when she was little. We could have talked for hours and hours about the years of memories, but I will forever be grateful for the one hour we shared that day and I look very forward to the future meetings we have planned! Mary ended our meeting with what left me speechless, dumbfounded and frozen by donating an extremely generous contribution to Addisons Army, in Alyssas name, to honor her Aunt B. From the bottom of my heart, I and everyone at AAAM thank you Mary, Alyssa and Katherine for being such a huge support system for our mission! I promise we will use your donation to continue our purpose of education and bringing awareness to everyone, young and old! Much love to you all XOXO! ~Kimberly
